Wozniacki Gets Closer to the Title

It was a satisfied Caroline Wozniacki who claimed a place in the semis after a tough battle against Maria Kirilenko. Wozniacki, who really likes the atmosphere in Båstad, won 7-5, 7-6(4).

 

It was an exciting match that took two hours and 20 minutes and was a really exciting story. Kirilenko was looking for revenge after losing their two previous meetings quite easily. Although she lost again, the Russian got to feel that she was much more in the match today. In fact it was the charming Russian who set the rules and forced Wozniacki to fight really hard. The Dane however, is well known for her physical strength and she refused to miss.

In the end it was Kirilenko who had to either pass Wozniacki or miss. The world number 9 showed an excellent fighting spirit out on the court today; Wozniacki claimed the set, after a lot of hard work, 7-5.

The standard of the match was very high and both players gave some interesting tennis to the crowd. The second set was hard to decide. Both refused to lose and the set had to be settled in a tiebreak. The tiebreak was also very exciting but at last it was Wozniacki who turned out the winner. She will meet the winner between Pennetta-Kudryavtseva in the semis. It will be a really entertaining match, especially since the Danish fans are starting to appear in Båstad.
