The Electronic Communication Act

The Electronic Communication Act took effect on 25 July 2003. Part of this law states that each visitor must be informed that the website they are visiting uses ‘cookies’, and be given the right to refuse such use.

A cookie is a small text file containing technical information that, in various ways, improves the visitor’s viewing experience of the website in question. This text file is stored on the viewer’s computer hard disk.

There are two types of cookie: session- and permanent. Session cookies are, as their name implies, short-lived. Used during the specific visit to the site, they disappear when you close your web browser. Permanent cookies enable the website to recognize your ‘return visit’.

We use both kinds of cookies. When you visit the Collector Swedish Open Women website, your computer sends information to our web server identifying, for example, the interval since your last visit. The session cookie, of course, disappears when you end your ‘visit’. Collector Swedish Open Women does not store any cookie-generated personal information about you, and other information about your visit is not traceable.
