Success week despite final loss

Johanna Larsson did all she could to win her first WTA title at home during Saturday's final of the Collector Swedish Open. The Slovenian Polona Hercogs however, became too difficult in the end, and could then win the first singles title in her career. After an even and exciting match it was 6-4, 7-5 to Hercogs in front of packed stands at Bastad Tennis Stadium.
- It wasn´t a bad match, but she made me feel bad today. She played better than me, says Johanna at the press conference after the game.
Johanna ranks this final match very high. The goal initially was to get to the semifinals and suddenly she was in the final.
- I have played two of my best games this week, I will learn from this and from the loss today. Despite everything, I've done something that no Suede has done here in Bastad for many years.
Polona is not slow to praise Johanna.
- Johanna is a fighter who fights to the last point and it was very hard to break her serve. But I kept my cool throughout the match and avoided getting upset when I made mistakes.
- There was a lot of nerves in this match from both of us. I am pleased to have gone to the final and won my first title, she continues.
- It's special for me to win on such a fine place. The audience has been fantastic and the whole tournament has been great.
In the altogether Spanish doubles final, Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez and Lourdes Dominguez Lino beat Nuria Llagostera Vives and Arantxa Parra Santoja with 6-3, 6-3.
