The ATP World Tour No. 12 Robin Soderling secured his place in the Catella Swedish Open final for the first time after defeating Andreas Vinciguerra in an exciting semifinal battle 6-1, 7-6(6). Vinciguerra fought hard and forced Soderling to save a set point in the second set’s tiebreak.

The Swedish super star Robin Soderling had no trouble defeating the tough Spaniard Nicolas Almagro in straight sets 7-5, 6-3 in the quarterfinals of the Catella Swedish Open 2009. The Swede will face his fellow countryman and friend Andreas Vinciguerra in the semis. Vinciguerra won his quarterfinal against Jurgen Melzer 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.

At Catella Swedish Open on Friday Tommy Robredo is set for his fourth ATP World Tour semifinal after having defeated the Russian Teimuraz Gabashvili in straight sets 6-4, 6-0. The Spaniard has had an impressive year so far with two titles and one Grand Slam quarterfinal at Roland Garros as his most outstanding results. In the next round he will face Juan Monaco who won his quarterfinal after Fernando Verdasco had to retire due to a right calf injury.
