
Soderling, Berdych and Monaco at focal point
It will a busy Wednesday at SkiStar Swedish Open. On center court there will be world class tennis when the two top 10 players Tomas Berdych and Robin Soderling play their opening matches. Robin is playing at dusk during this year's Sunset Tennis.
Leading off the centre court is No. 7 seed Andrey Golubev from Kazakhstan against 33-year-old Spaniard Ramirez Hidalgo, the oldest player in the field.
Clay-court specialist Juan Monaco from Argentina faces his countryman Carlos Berlocq. Two years ago, Monaco was in the final of the tournament and lost against Soderling.
No. 3 seed Czech and world number eight Tomas Berdych meets Russian Teymuraz Gabashvili for the first time. Berdych has been in the finals twice before in Bastad, 2005 against Nadal and 2008 against Tommy Robredo.
At 19.00 Sunset Tennis takes off. Tonight's program includes musical entertainment by Jessica Andersson, awards in Swedish Tennis Hall of Fame and two matches with Swedish interests.
First up is the Swedish meeting between Simon Aspelin and Andreas Siljeström against wild card pair Patrik Brydolf and Michael Ryderstedt.
Then top seed and World No. 5 Robin Soderling takes on the qualifier Diego Junqueira from Argentina. Robin plays in Bastad for the tenth year in a row and has won three ATP titles in 2011.
Other Swedes on the program is the newly doubles finalist from Newport, Johan Brunstrom, who with Danish Fredrik Nielsen takes on Potito Starace and Maximo Gonzalez.
Wildcard duo Carl Bergman and Patrik Rosenholm meet Spaniards David Marrero and Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo.
