Larsson and Björklund among todays winners
Swedes Mirjam Björklund and Johanna Larsson won their respective matches today and are now the only home players through to the second round.
Fiona Ferro, of France, won the first match played on center court today. Swedish opponent Susanne Celik came up short when Ferro won 6-0 2-6 6-4.
Wild card Mirjam Björklund faced Anna Zaja of Germany in the second match. Zaja, ranked 100 in the world, won the first set in a tight tie-breaker. All sets ended up in deciding tie-breaks and the Swede Björklund got the upper hand taking the second set tie-break 7-0. And finally after a marathon like 3 h and 23 minutes the first Swedish player could claim her ticket to the second round.
Johanna Larsson stormed through the first set against top seed Sorana Cirstea 6-0. After a short rain delay Cirstea found her rythm and the second set came to a deciding tie-brfeak where Larsson came out on top winning it 6-0 7-6(2)
